Get a Free QuoteBrown Box Movers started in 2009 out of frustration with the reputation the moving industry had earned. Too many stories from too many customers followed the same pattern: movers who showed up late, handled belongings carelessly, and treated a stressful day with even less care than it deserved.
We saw an opportunity to do it differently. From the beginning, Brown Box Movers has been built around professionalism, careful handling, and a level of customer service that earns trust rather than assuming it. Every decision we have made since, from how we train our crews to how we quote a move, has been shaped by that same goal.
We are still a family-owned business today, and we intend to stay that way. As Brown Box Movers has grown across Denton, Argyle, and Prosper, our approach has not changed. We aim to improve with every move, not just complete it.
Moving is one of the more stressful things most people go through, and it should not be made worse by the company hired to help. We built Brown Box Movers around a few principles that guide how we operate.
You should know what a move will cost before it starts, not after. We quote clearly and stand behind the numbers we give you.
Your belongings are treated the way we would want ours treated. That is not a slogan, it is how we train every crew member who works for us.
The people who show up on your moving day work for Brown Box Movers. Your job is never sold on to another company or handed to day labor hired for the morning.
Accidents can happen even with the most careful crew. When they do, we deal with it directly and fairly, rather than making a customer chase down an answer.
Brown Box Movers is licensed by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles and carries insurance on every move we take on, local or long distance. We are also proud members of the Denton community, with offices in Denton, Argyle, and Prosper and a climate-controlled warehouse with 24/7 surveillance where we store belongings using our wooden vault system.
Being local matters to how we work. Our crews know the neighborhoods, the older homes with narrow staircases, the newer developments with HOA rules on truck access, and the buildings that need an elevator reserved in advance. That knowledge comes from working here consistently, not from a script.
As Brown Box Movers continues to grow, our goal remains the same as it was on day one: improve with every move. That means investing in better training for our crews, being clearer with our customers about pricing and process, and continuing to serve the communities that have trusted us for years.
We look forward to providing you with the kind of moving experience the industry does not always deliver. Contact Brown Box Movers today to schedule your move.
A deposit is required to reserve your date on all of our services, and it is applied toward your total cost. If your plans change, the deposit is refundable up to 72 hours before your scheduled move date.
We understand plans change, and we ask customers to communicate as early as possible. Cancellations or reschedules made at least 72 hours before your scheduled move date are fully refundable. Contact us as soon as you know your plans have changed and we will work with you.
No. Your total move cost is confirmed before your move date. Fuel is a set charge that we tell you at the time of booking, not a percentage of your move. The one variable cost to be aware of is a waiting fee, which applies if the crew is delayed through no fault of their own, for example if you are not ready with keys to the new residence.
Local moves are quoted hourly. Moves out of state, and occasionally larger homes, are quoted as a binding written estimate. Request a quote and we will recommend the pricing structure that fits your job.
We accept credit card, debit card, money order, cashier’s check, and cash. We do not accept personal checks. Payment is due to the crew leader on the day of service, and you will receive a receipt for any payment made.
If paying by card, the card must belong to the person present and signing for the move. If another party is paying and will not be present, contact our office before your move date to arrange this in advance.
No. Paying by cash, cashier’s check, or money order simply avoids the credit card processing fee that applies to card payments.
Yes. When your crew heads to your home, we send you a text with an estimated arrival time based on their GPS location.
The clock starts when the crew arrives and begins work, and continues until the job is complete.
On-time arrival depends heavily on accurate details from the move scheduled immediately before yours. When you book, please share anything that affects timing, including the number of stairs, how close a truck can park to your home, whether furniture needs to be disassembled, and how much is already packed. Accurate details help us block the right amount of time for every customer’s move, including yours.
Please also make sure you have keys to your new residence ready on moving day. A wait for access is one of the few things that can delay a schedule.
No. Our crew is glad to disassemble and reassemble furniture for you as part of your move.
Yes, though we recommend removing anything breakable from drawers before moving day.
Yes. For labor-only jobs, our crew arrives with shrink wrap and dollies. Moving blankets are not included with labor-only service. For full-service moves or when we provide the truck, the crew brings everything needed to complete the job. Boxes are available for an additional fee if you have not packed your own.
Tipping is never required, but it is always appreciated when you feel your crew did a good job. You can give the full amount to the crew leader to divide, or tip each mover individually. Refreshments are always appreciated. Our crews cannot accept furniture, alcohol, clothing, or electronics as a tip. Our crews are not permitted to drink on the job or carry any alcohol containers, open or closed, in company vehicles.
Yes. Request a quote and let us know which items need to move, and we will follow up with details specific to that job.
Some items require specific equipment, tools, or additional crew to move safely, which may carry an additional fee. Examples include pianos, gun safes, arcade or game tables, grandfather clocks, statues, exercise equipment, and smokers or grills. If you are unsure whether an item falls into this category, ask us or send a photo when you book, and we will confirm before your move date.
For safety reasons, we do not transport flammable items, propane, chemicals, firearms or ammunition, fertilizer, or live plants. We also do not transport vehicles. If you are unsure whether an item can be moved, ask us before your move date.
Yes. Brown Box Movers carries the coverage required by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles on every move. We also offer additional protection if you would like coverage beyond the standard minimum, described below.
We offer two levels of coverage.
Released Value Protection is included on every move at no additional cost. If an item is lost, destroyed, or damaged while in our care, our liability is limited to $0.60 per pound for that item, based on its weight. This is the basic coverage level required by Texas regulation.
Full Value Protection is available for an additional cost if you would like your belongings covered closer to their actual value. Under this option, if an item is lost, destroyed, or damaged, we will either repair it, pay for its repair, or replace it with an item of similar kind and quality. Pricing is based on the declared value of your belongings, and a deductible may apply depending on the value declared. Let us know if you would like a quote for this option, and provide an approximate value for the items in our care so we can confirm the cost.
We schedule moves Monday through Saturday during business hours. We do not move on Sundays or schedule evening or after-hours moves.
