Brown Box Movers runs it on a dedicated truck with a price settled in writing before the first box goes on.

Down I-35 and Across I-37

The drive heads south on I-35 through the Metroplex, Waco, Temple, and Austin to San Antonio, then turns southeast on I-37 for the last 140 miles to the coast. Figure about seven hours by car, with Austin traffic as the main variable. Crews leaving Denton early usually clear the I-35 corridor before the afternoon backs up.

Your shipment is the only load on the truck. It does not stop at a terminal in San Antonio, it is not combined with another household, and the same crew handles both ends. If your move stops partway down that corridor instead, our Denton to San Antonio movers page covers it.

Salt Air, Humidity, and Storm Season

Coastal air is harder on belongings than most people expect. Humidity sits high year-round, salt accelerates corrosion on anything metal, and a garage near the water is a rough place to store tools or exercise equipment long term. Furniture travels wrapped in moving pads rather than plastic alone, because sealed plastic traps moisture against a finish over a long drive.

Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. The Coastal Bend has taken direct hits in that window before, and an approaching storm can close roads and fill hotels for a hundred miles inland. If a system is in the Gulf during your move week, we will talk through shifting the date. Your binding price does not change because we rescheduled around weather.

Who Is Making This Move

Naval Air Station Corpus Christi and the Corpus Christi Army Depot sit on the south side of the bay and bring a steady flow of military and civilian staff. The Port of Corpus Christi is one of the busiest in the country by tonnage, which supports a large industrial and logistics workforce. And a significant share of arrivals are retirees trading a larger inland house for something closer to the water.

Retirement moves are usually downsizing moves, and the sorting takes longer than the driving. Our senior moving service page explains how we approach those. The binding estimate reflects only what actually goes on the truck, so anything you decide to leave behind is not in the price.

Around the Coastal Bend

  • Southside: the bulk of newer residential growth, with garages and easy truck access
  • Calallen and Annaville: northwest of the city along the Nueces River
  • Flour Bluff: between the bay and the Laguna Madre, convenient to the naval air station
  • Padre and Mustang Island: beach properties, many raised on pilings with exterior stairs
  • Portland, Ingleside, and Aransas Pass: across the harbor bridge in San Patricio County
  • Rockport and Fulton: about half an hour up the coast

Island addresses deserve a mention during the survey. A house on pilings means every piece goes up a flight of outdoor steps, and the crew size should reflect that before anyone arrives.

What the Move Includes

Loading, the drive, unloading, and furniture placed in the rooms you choose are all standard. Beds, sectionals, and dining sets come apart in Denton and go back together at the coast. Full or partial packing is available, and over 430 miles of highway the quality of the packing shows. If the Corpus Christi home is not ready on your move-out date, your household can be held in storage at our Denton warehouse until delivery.

Boats are a common question here, and the answer is no. We do not transport boats, trailers, or vehicles of any kind. Those need a carrier that specializes in them, booked separately from your household move.
