Brown Box Movers is a family-owned Denton company that sends your household west on a dedicated truck, with the same crew from your Denton driveway to your California address.

Two Ways West

Northern route US-287 to Amarillo, I-40 through Albuquerque and Flagstaff, then I-15 from Barstow into the Los Angeles basin
Southern route I-20 to I-10, then through El Paso, Tucson, Phoenix, and Palm Springs into the Inland Empire
Distance About 1,400 miles either way
Drive time by car Roughly 20 to 21 hours, usually split over two or three days
Regulator Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (interstate)

Either way, your shipment stays on one truck. It is not unloaded at a terminal in the desert, pooled with other households, or handed to a second carrier for the final leg. When you book, we lock in the pickup date, the delivery window, and the crew assigned to you.

Delivery Access in Los Angeles

Before the survey, find out as much as you can about the new address. These are the questions that shape an LA delivery:

  • Where can the truck park? Some cities in LA County require a permit to reserve curb space for a moving truck. Check with your city or property manager.
  • Is the home on a hillside? Homes in Silver Lake, Echo Park, Los Feliz, and the Hollywood Hills often sit on narrow, steep streets or behind long staircases.
  • Does the building have a freight elevator? Many buildings in Downtown LA, Koreatown, and Westwood require a reservation and a set move-in time.
  • How far is the door from the curb? Courtyard apartments and garden-style buildings can mean a long walk with every piece.

Share the answers during your survey so they are in the plan from the start. If you are moving into a managed building, our apartment moving service page covers the extra steps involved.

Where Denton Families Land in LA

Los Angeles County covers a huge area, and the drive from one side to the other can take longer than some local moves back home. Common destinations include:

  • Santa Monica, Culver City, and the Westside
  • Burbank, Glendale, Studio City, and the San Fernando Valley
  • Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley
  • Long Beach, Torrance, and the South Bay beach cities

Packed and Wrapped for Two Days on the Road

Furniture headed to California is wrapped, padded, and secured for a cross-country drive, not a short trip across Denton. Beds, sectionals, and dining sets are disassembled before loading and reassembled in your new rooms. You can add full or partial packing. Over 1,400 miles, how boxes are packed and sealed matters, and our packing services page explains both options.

Plants, fresh produce, and firewood may be checked at California’s agricultural inspection stations at the state line. Leave them behind or plan around it.

We do not move cars. Some people relocating to LA drive one vehicle and ship a second. Book the second one with an auto transport company, separate from your household move.

Priced From an Inventory, Not a Scale

Interstate moves are often estimated by weight, and the bill changes once the loaded truck is weighed. We price from a room-by-room survey of your home, in person or by video, and give you a binding written estimate. You pay what you agreed to. There is no reweigh in Los Angeles and no adjustment after loading. Estimates are free. For more on our approach, see our long distance moving service.
