I-10 Almost the Whole Way

From Denton the route drops southwest to I-20, follows it to the I-10 junction in West Texas, then stays on I-10 through El Paso, Las Cruces, Tucson, and into Phoenix from the southeast. Figure 15 to 16 hours of driving, normally split across two days. It is a straightforward road with long empty stretches and few decisions to make.

Your belongings are the only thing on the truck. Nothing is consolidated at a hub in Tucson, nothing is transferred to a second trailer, and the crew that loads the house in Denton is the crew that carries it inside in Phoenix.

Summer Heat Changes the Plan

Phoenix regularly runs above 110 degrees from June through September. That is hard on crews, hard on candles and electronics left in a hot truck, and hard on anyone trying to supervise an unload. Summer moves work, but they work better when the crew starts at first light and finishes before afternoon. If your dates are flexible at all, October through April is a far easier stretch for a Valley delivery.

Monsoon season runs roughly July through September and brings sudden thunderstorms and the occasional dust storm that drops visibility on I-10 to nothing. Drivers wait those out rather than push through them.

Arizona Does Not Change Its Clocks

Most of Arizona skips daylight saving time. From November to March, Phoenix is one hour behind Denton. From March to November, it is two. People miss this constantly when scheduling deliveries, utility appointments, and flights. Your estimate lists the delivery window in local Phoenix time, and it is worth double-checking any other appointment you book that week against the current gap.

Across the Valley

  • Scottsdale and Paradise Valley: established neighborhoods, gated communities with guard-house check-in
  • Tempe and Mesa: closer to Arizona State, a mix of older ranch homes and apartment complexes
  • Chandler and Gilbert: newer subdivisions southeast of the city, easy truck access
  • Glendale, Peoria, and Surprise: the northwest corridor, including a number of age-restricted communities
  • Central Phoenix and Arcadia: older lots with mature landscaping and narrower driveways

Gated and age-restricted communities often require advance notice before a moving truck is admitted, and some limit the hours. Call your HOA the week you close and pass whatever they tell you to us.

What Goes on the Truck

The crew wraps and pads each piece for a two-day drive, disassembles beds, sectionals, and dining sets in Denton, and reassembles them in your new rooms. Full or partial packing is available if you want the boxes handled too. A household headed into a home that is not finished yet can wait in storage at our Denton facility until the delivery date is set.

Cars are not something we carry. Many people driving to Phoenix ship a second vehicle with an auto transport company, booked on its own. Our residential moving service explains what a full household move includes from the first box to furniture placement.
